Doesn’t matter what age group you are in for Pokemon Go; consider it good fun, healthy competition, and great exercise. On top of that, you will meet other people (if only by-passing them for that invaluable Pokémon). The latest rage in innovative interactive video games has everyone on the hunt. But the biggest downer to this game is having a phone which is not as excited about the game as you are.

There are some requirements which make game play way more fun. The phone battery is the biggest factor. Another specification is having GPS location services, and reliable Wi-Fi. You also want to be sure your phone has the ability to use the augmented reality features with an included gyroscope, and sometimes it can be difficult to know if your own phone has one. Any phone should be able to support LTE due to the need of the low 4G latency to capture anything. Remember, your phone must meet all of Pokemon Go’s systems requirements in order to jump into the game.

Some really good phones to look at for this game include: LG G5, HTC 10, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Nexus 6P, Moto G4, and BLU R1. The latter two phones because they are the least expensive, but sport some great hardware and battery life.

Moto G4 and BLU R1 are cheap good phones under $100 dollars. The only problem with the BLU R1 it lacks the desirable gyroscope, which can be disappointing to those who wish to capture their Pokemon in the ‘real world’ scenario on camera.

Don’t discount Motorola’s ability to provide a great phone for this game.  The Moto G4 is totally compatible with both GSM and CDMA networks, so you can play the game regardless of your subscribed provider.  The GLONASS feature for location tracking and geotagging are relevant for the game’s success. Even the Moto X shines on with capturing Pokémon easily. Both of these Smartphones have a 3000mAh battery for longer hunting time. This is also a very inexpensive phone.

BLU Energy X LTE is a perfect Pokemon Go phone because its battery life is a whopping 4000mAh and it has the LTE support for speedy data. It is a less expensive phone and excels with some enhanced features to make chasing Pokemons easy. It is an android phone similar to Samsung, but without the price tag. Take advantage of the excellent cameras to snap your latest capture.

With Samsung being brought up, you have to admit you cannot go wrong with this brand of android phone.  The Samsung S7 has a 3000mAh battery life and the beautiful Samsung Edge holds a 3600mAh battery. You are going to see crisp and clear details of every catch in the augmented reality, as this is one of the top features of the camera for Samsung. It is going to be a bit more out of pocket, but even when you are not in hot pursuit of a Pokemon this phone takes all.

Tips to Remember:

Wi-Fi only devices will work for Pokemon Go, but only when you are in proximity of Wi-Fi hotspots. The best solution here is having an LTE data connection. The cheapest way to go about this is to use the buddy system and use another phone as a hotspot.

The other concern is the battery, as you know how fast your cell phone battery can drain. Imagine finally tracking down the rare, golden, and much sought after Pokemon and then your phone dying as you try to catch it.  If your phone allows it, go for a Pokemon Go back as a safety precaution.

Check your phone and see if it supports a gyroscope, this is a necessary requirement for the interactive game.
